    Fall has arrived

We got our first frost yesterday morning. It wasn’t a hard freeze, just a typical first frost that coats the roofs and grass with a light white coating. The leaves have already started falling. The wife and I have been slowly cleaning out the gardens and flower beds. Cutting down the ornamentals and trimming shrubs. I’ve already stowed the garden hoses, all except one on standby for just in case. I started doing the prewinter maintenance on all the machinery. But this fall seems a little different. In addition to all the normal fall jobs I keep thinking about all the crazy shit going on in the country and the world right now. To complicate matters, I recently had stents put in my heart, a severe bout of kidney stones, and I got other issues going on that are playing hell with my strength and stamina. I keep plugging away but I’m getting tired and worn out. At 75 years old things should be getting easier. But it sure as hell feels like the opposite is true.

I'm feeling the weather. I passed on any Kidney scans since my kidneys are like my Dad's heart. There are too many inlets and outlets , ie plumbing. Is way to complicated for transplant. That's why my Dad had 27 stents put in his heart and died a year later just after healing from surgery

We are in the 80's here in Texas finally. No more 100 degree temps. Still, we have a tropical storm that formed in the gulf we have to keep eye on. Looks like it's heading for New Orleans tho so we should be good. I am as ready for winter as can be, or should I say, what winter get here in Texas. Usually not that bad but on occasion we will get a nasty cold front or two here but that's not usually till January.

Hey Chiefster, try and relax a little and enjoy. You sound a lot like us here at Ten Oaks, your about as prepared as you can be. We keep an eye on what's happening out in the world so we are not surprised but there ain't much we can do about the craziness outside our gate. So, relax, and enjoy our retirement years, we have earned it.

I hear you Chiefster. I'll be 79 on November 5th. I had quadruple bypass surgery a few years ago, Things get tougher to do every day. I had to get a plumber to change a kitchen faucet, something that would have been a breeze for me to do just 10 years ago. the golden years suck.

A man asked his wife to show him her titties,
so she lifted her skirt and did.

My brother and I used to laugh when our grandparents would visit and complain about all their ailments, aches and pains. We are not laughing now.

Warm this week but next week they say a cool down into the 60's and 50's here in Texas. I won't hold my breath. Highly unusual but bring it on if real.

Getting some cooler/cold nites. I’ve had to run the heat pump most mornings recently and one morning I just fired up the furnace. I still have plenty of propane in the tanks but I’m still gonna have them topped off sometime in the next few weeks. With full tanks and my coal bin already full I can last all winter without a resupply. Buy now as it’s all gonna be more expensive later.

Yeah, I can tell it's October because it goes down into the 70's late at night. Was out working on the tractor yesterday, still needed a bandana as a sweatband, and had to change my T shirt when I came in as it reeked

Our days have been in the mid-upper 80s. Sixty-four right now at 7am , not bad for southeast Texas.

We might break a record high here today. 85 was the record, they are calling for 87. And possible frost for Friday night.

                          Farmers are opening up fields...

Weather here can't make up it's mind. 82F yesterday, but by Thursday we are supposed to have highs in the 50s and an overnight low around 30F.
