We have been in the high 60's/low 70's for about a week. The mornings have been chilly (for AZ). I noticed the day before yesterday, it was 49 a little after 5:00AM. Fall in AZ is freakin' awesome!
I broke in my new burn pit this morning! Fall and early winter is a good time to burn trash. Spring/early summer is too dry and mid summer is monsoon season. But now is perfect!👍 3Comment

Supposed to be 30 tomorrow AM. T-Woman 1066's hanging plant is in the garage. I will put it back out in the morning. Can probably stretch it another 2 weeks or so.Politicians can kiss my ass!!!👍 1Comment

It’s here! We now have a freeze warning for tonite. It’s gonna drop to between 25 and 30 degrees. I’m glad. A hard freeze means I can finish cutting stuff down, trimming, and having it all hauled away. The mower decks will get pressure washed and repainted. The yard machinery will all get oil changes, blades sharpened, tanks drained and everything put to bed for winter.👍 3Comment

I spent 2 days this week putting doors on my tractor shed . . . gotta keep the birds from crapping on the equipment.
I noticed all week that any time I went into the tractor shed (its one of those all metal things . . . sheet metal screwed down onto 3 x 3 steel posts and rafters) . . . that there were about 30 "wasper" looking bugs flying around the upper 3 feet of the building.
They were not building nests . . . and it didn't look like they were interested in the other bugs there . . . just nonchalontly breaking the air at the top.
And none ever even offered to put the stinger to me or my son.
Anyone got any kind of explanation??? I'm curious as all get out . . . never saw that before.
May God bless,
Dwight👍 3Comment

Funny you should mention that Pastor D, we see wasps congregating in certain areas under the roof overhang near light fixtures usually in late Sept early Oct. I spray the heck out of them with wasp killer. I'm talking groups of 50 or so wasps. If it's cool enough the wasps are pretty slow so its bonus kill points if the temp has dropped!I spent 2 days this week putting doors on my tractor shed . . . gotta keep the birds from crapping on the equipment.

Crazy bees/wasps/hornets this year! About 6 weeks ago I had bunch of them decide to build a nest UNDER one of my shipping containers. Of course, it happens to be the shipping container that I use as overflow for my shop. So I frequently have to go into it. I tried killing them with a bug bomb but they didn't die. I tried spraying them with Black Flag and some died but most did not.
They are not usually aggressive so I have come to the conclusion that I am just going to leave them alone and let nature deal with them.
The only time they got unhappy with me was when I took the weed whacker near them. They REALLY don't like the weed whacker! Even after I left the area, a bunch continued to follow me. I did get stung a few times that day. Fortunately, the AZ bees do not seem to sting nearly as bad as the MN bees did. Still, I would not want to get stung dozens of times.
But yeah, they are CRAZY this fall!Last edited by Inor; 10-17-2026, 11:32 AM.😀 1👍 1Comment
