    Kitchen cabinet

A neighbor asked me to build them a new cabinet for their kitchen. It is not really "my style" but I'm still pretty happy with how it came out.

They intend to paint it, which is a sacrilege as far as I am concerned, but it is theirs to do with as they see fit.

They wanted pull-out shelves. So I did that but I only used 100# drawer glides as they did not want to pony up for 200#.

But the part that I am most proud of is... They wanted a pull-out spice rack with adjustable shelves. Initially, I had no idea how I was going to accomplish that. But the solution I came up with was pretty dang cool if I do say so myself...

(The part on the joinery of the top rail that looks like a glue spill in the photo is actually a really cool looking knot.)

        Beautiful work!!
They're gonna love those pullout shelves. We have 4 in the pantry cabinet, loaded with canned goods to the hilt. They may wish they'd gotten the 200# glides.

Really nice work Inor. You are a wood working god.

            Good looking work . . .

            I like wood working . . . but I'm a lot less capable than that . . .

I have to buy something like that if I want it.

            May God bless,
            Dwight

Inor, what kind of wood did you use to make that?

The plywood is birch. The rest is poplar. Since they are just going to paint it, there was no reason to go with anything nice.

One reason I am weak when it comes to woodcraft. How different species react to ageing, moisture, compression/tensile, etc. You rawk!!
