    Kitchen cabinet

A neighbor asked me to build them a new cabinet for their kitchen. It is not really "my style" but I'm still pretty happy with how it came out.

They intend to paint it, which is a sacrilege as far as I am concerned, but it is theirs to do with as they see fit.

They wanted pull-out shelves. So I did that but I only used 100# drawer glides as they did not want to pony up for 200#.

But the part that I am most proud of is... They wanted a pull-out spice rack with adjustable shelves. Initially, I had no idea how I was going to accomplish that. But the solution I came up with was pretty dang cool if I do say so myself...

(The part on the joinery of the top rail that looks like a glue spill in the photo is actually a really cool looking knot.)

        Beautiful work!!
They're gonna love those pullout shelves. We have 4 in the pantry cabinet, loaded with canned goods to the hilt. They may wish they'd gotten the 200# glides.

Really nice work Inor. You are a wood working god.

            Good looking work . . .

            I like wood working . . . but I'm a lot less capable than that . . .

I have to buy something like that if I want it.

            May God bless,
            Dwight

Inor, what kind of wood did you use to make that?

The plywood is birch. The rest is poplar. Since they are just going to paint it, there was no reason to go with anything nice.

One reason I am weak when it comes to woodcraft. How different species react to ageing, moisture, compression/tensile, etc. You rawk!!

Nice job. I'm starting to put my woodshop back together and intend on using it. Just as soon as the 15" Cerwin Vega's get hooked up to the Pyle receiver that should have enough watts.

                        Very nice!

I'll be making new cabinet doors soon and I'm not a fan of painted woodwork but they will be painted. I'm too lazy to make new carcasses and the current ones are butt-ugly dark stained. They also have granite countertops that I don't want to deal with. Most of the doors will be about 40"x14", I'll plan to use paint grade soft maple for the stiles and rails due to it's stability. Wife wants glass panels but I'm not too sure if that will happen.

Any input would be much appreciated
