    Longevity Thread and/or Bucket List

So, apparently there are FIVE criteria which are considered good (or bad) markers for your longevity. How I did:

Balance: The ability to stand on one leg for 10 seconds. I can do that for quite a bit longer, but it's more than a bit wobbly. That ability seems to evaporate trying to put on my underwear though.

Getting out of a chair using no hands: I can do that OK, it just hurts LOL. Lying on the floor and getting up is another story... I can do it but it's ugly.

Walking briskly with purpose: I do my 2 mile old guy jog every other day, so a good score on that one. However, it's slow enough to look like something out of The "Ministry of Funny Walks".

Grip strength: Vinny, my amazingly powerful friend who once competed for the world record in the bench, and still owns and trains in a gym, came over a few months ago with this new grip tester device I had never heard of before. Digital readout, the works. Pretty cool. Obviously, he had been training with it. I asked him to show me how it works. He bared down and went at it, getting a score of 96. "Is that a really good score?" I asked? He assured me it was. So, first time having never tried it before, I bare down and squeeze the bejezus out of it.
    112. HAH! I got to call him a candy-ass wuss one more time before we leave this veil of tears. Guitar fingers win one more time.

Social interactions: By this standard, I should have been dead 20 years ago.

I can get up out of a chair and a bed all by myself, I just can't do it without moaning and holding my back.

I wonder when the "experts" say something, I read just of late that taking naps "could" cause an increase in dementia. Everything is, might, could, may, could be associated with. It would if nice if they told us when they know for sure instead of guessing.

As my daughter likes to say, correlation is not neccessarily causation.

The hell with the "Experts". The only thing sure to kill you eventually is being born.
