Right, and you'd think that it would. That's why I did mostly raw pack - easiest, less ingredients.

We have given (and thrown) away more food in the last few years and still have way more food in long term storage than we ever thought.

Every year, Mrs S "cans" and freezes from the garden and puts up many more jars of food than we can consume. So we give away plenty.

Also, every so often I'll prepare a few meals from our Long Term Storage Freeze Dried food. We still have more than we will ever consume unless something really bad happens to our food supply...

Yeah, that's the thing. Sure, there may be shortages or restrictions or whatever... But having to go out and fight the public for scraps is something our full shelves can prevent.

The more I watch the world go crazy - the happier I am about "too much food stocked up". Ah, Lordy. I'm trying to talk myself out of getting another canner... and I'm losing my own arguments.

Maybe its just in my mind, but I use Berkey water for all cooking, think its tastes better. Stinking water (pun intended) straight from the tap, pew, I can smell it!!! And I gotta pay $$ for this kind of garbage?! While you may not taste the difference, I'd argue the Berkey water is better for you.
We do the same . . . Berkey for drinking, cooking, coffee, Kool aid, . . . etc.

          Chlorine water for the rest.

          May God bless,
          Dwight

I don’t plain can any of my garden green beans. Store bought are just too cheap to justify home canning. But I do make plenty of jars of pickled dilly beans! With my own home grown dill. And we also have way more food on the shelves than we could use. But I’m very anal about the stored food issue. I keep buying more! I know, I know. It’s a mental sickness😜

If the stuff starts dripping off the fan blades . . . seriously . . . you will be glad . . . and will probably watch many of your neighbors starve . . . beg . . . or steal.

Unless of course you invite them in and feed them

We are basically maintaining our stock level currently. If it goes sideways I suspect we won't outlive the food storage we have on hand right now. I still add ammo but not near the quantities I did before. I still tweek things tho. I am always looking to make things easier and more streamlined. Getting to old to go the long way around the barn.
