What kills mankind first, a cosmic certainty over time, or man's own stupidity short term? I am betting on mans stupidity. 😁

That's way cool, wonder if any fragments made it to the ground, always wanted a piece of a meteor.

I remember seeing a pretty big one on display at the Chicago Museum of Science and Industry. Pretty cool shit. I have been fascinated with the cosmos since I watched the Apollo moon shots in the 60's. If you ever get to Chicago, besides getting a deep dish pan pizza, go to the Museum of Science and Industry. Pretty cool place.

I read somewhere that they estimated the explosion at 250 tons of TNT.

Yea, I heard that as well. But they claimed the meteor was 6' diameter, and weighed about 14,000#. My pea brain can't wrap around how a rock breaking apart can explode with that much force? By mass, the 250 tons of TNT would be 200x that size. And a rock is made of, well, rock stuff. I'm not sure, other than vaporizing steam from any ice in the rock heating up in the burnout, what else would make it explode, especially with that much force?
