Well, my old Snapper has hit 20 years old. The deck has been welded back together a few times. Had to replace the spindles once. Seat is just about gone. Replaced the fuel lines twice. Now, the engine has started acting up. So, I think it might be time for an upgrade. We used to use a lot of Toro equipment when I worked at the local golf course as a kid. I am currently looking at a 60" Toro Titan Max zero turn mower. Anyone have one of these? I'm just looking for an unbiased review. My local Tractor Supply says they can order me one, AFTER I pay for it. I can't find a single dealership that has one in stock in my area, and I am super-weary of spending that much money for a machine that I have never seen in person. All anyone around here has in stock, including Tractor Supply, is Bad Boy Mowers. Everything I have read about those is that they fall apart fairly quickly. I want something that will last me another 20 years. Any input from you guys?

I would never on even the ayatollah's life . . . buy one from TSC . . . my son has one . . . it runs . . . but he puts 250 or more every spring in the thing.
OTOH . . . I have a Kubota . . . 27(?) hp diesel . . . 60 inch cut . . . I bought about 8 or so years ago. It has really never given me any real trouble. Keep the anti freeze in it . . . change the oil . . . feed it good diesel . . . and it is good to go. Bought it off facebook marketplace . . . used.
My John Deere diesel tractor with 72 inch finish mower took a little over 2 hours to mow. My 60 inch Kubota does the same area in about 1 hr and 45 minutes.
Get a diesel . . . the Kubota uses hydraulic to run fwd . . . back . . . lift the deck . . . and run the mower off a hyd PTO setup. Best setup I've seen.
Get on Ebay . . . buy an air ride seat (think semi truck) . . . make it fit like I did . . . you will love the ride . . .
May God bless,
Dwight😀 3👍 2 -
My lawn guy is using the Husqvarna commercial grade Zero turn and he loves them. He is running two 60" 23 HP units and has had them 2 years with no issues, just regular maintenance. They are pricey though. I have no first hand knowledge with their mowers but their Chainsaws are beasts. I have Had a few of them over the years and I would put those right next to STIHL. We have a STIHL dealer over in Woodville so I see a lot of them as well although they are pricey as well.Last edited by Texas PO; 03-25-2026, 06:31 AM.

Son in law has the 60" Kubota zero turn $14,000 is a lot of money but he abuses the crap of it cutting 5 acres.Well, my old Snapper has hit 20 years old. I watched . . . watched . . . and watched . . . facebook marketplace . . . bought my Kubota for 1500 bucks. Guy said it needed maintenance.
It needed a strainer ($10.00) changed . . .
It mows darn near 5 acres every time I take it out . . . about 1 hr 45 minutes or so.
No spring tune ups . . . no spark plugs . . . plug wires . . . points . . .
Air filter when needed (every other year) . . . oil filter every 50 hours . . . put diesel in it and run . . . so far just shy of 1500 hours
May God bless,
Dwight👍 2Comment

I'm still using the 1972 Ford LGT145 I inherited from my parents. Made in USA by Jacobsen for Ford with hydrostatic drive and K321 Kohler engine that's never been apart.
They don't make them to last anymore...

It would take me 3 days to mow my lawn with that. But, you are right. Howver, I will say my Snapper lasted nearly 20 years.Comment

I use a Howes 60" PTO mower behind my Hew Holland 40 hp- takes longer than a zero turn, but I already had the tractor and the mower was given to me- just had to realign the gearbox with the deck....when I first engaged the PTO the 15 lb blades hit the deck, and it was loud! My friend came from across the road to find out WTF that noise was. I use a 48" deck John Deere rider for the front. If I didn't need the tractor for the loader, the backhoe, roller, spreader etc etc I'd probably get a diesel Kubota zero turn if I could get it for the right price- probably one that needs work👍 1Comment
