There's a great video out there of an E2 hitting the deck on the Eisenhower. It hits the #4 cable, but that snaps, and the aircraft goes off the deck, drops for a second, then comes up again. The crew followed procedure: The second they realized they weren't stopping, they maintained full throttle and the second they cleared the deck they brought the gear up.
