FRT's

Been thinking about getting an FRT for one of my rifles. Yes, I know they aren't very practical and can be a waste of ammo but I think having one would be a hoot. I would still have semi-auto and the safety but every now and again I could let it rip. Give my neighbors something to think about. It's as close to auto as you can get and they are legal here in the free state of Texas. The ATF for now is stating it does not make the rifle a machine gun, subject to change of course. Anyone in this loony-bin have one or have any experience shooting one? Thoughts?

I have never fired a rifle with an FRT, but when I broke my ankle I helped a friend build a 10/22 with a binary trigger. That was great fun! I highly recommend it but make sure you do it to something that is cheap to shoot.

I didn't know what a FRT was, looked it up, I like it!!! One search result said, why does anyone need an FRT? Cause we like to get our Ha Ha's asshole! Like why do you need a car that can go 150 mph and other such similar nonsense.

RubberDuck has one on an AR its quite useful from short bursts to dump the mag. Yup fun fun fun till daddy takes the tbird away!

What brand does the duck have? I am looking at Rare Breed because they are the only manufacturer that has a letter from the ATF stating the trigger does not make it a machine gun, but there are a few others out there. Has his been reliable for him?

I was never able to master it, but when I was living back east, a bud would hold my M1a on his hip, thumb hooked in a belt loop, finger on the trigger and the recoil did the reset. everybody at the range took notice. This was early 80's, probably have the national guard flying in if we did that today. Super fun times!!

I have a buddy who put an FRT on his AR. He took it back out, because he could not get the rifle to cycle properly. Constant jams and mis-feeds. I'm not saying dont do it, just saying you have been warned.

Yep, My understanding is the buffer tube may have to be changed out in order for it to cycle. I am still doing the research but the bottom line it must be reliable or I drop the whole idea. I lived this long without one.

The duck has the Partisan (fun switch)

It works pretty good but... it will get a little fussy when the AR gets dirty. His AR likes to run wet (lots of lube)

Thanks for that, the name for it just wouldn't pop into my head, I know there was a device to do it, but he did it without one.
