    Silencers/Suppressors! 4473 Only?

Been reading about the Silencer Shop/GOA lawsuit etc and the possibility that your state may allow a silencer/suppressor to be bought over the counter and with only a form 4473 being filled out?

Now, don't get me wrong, I think the whole 4473 is bullshit as is the NFA but I suppose it's a clear win for those who want to buy a suppressor? Anybody got some first hand info?

    Thx

The ruling is for a very narrow segment of the population. From what I've read, purchases are only from certain manufacturers and one has to be a GOA member. That ruling will most likely be expanded after yet more lawsuits.

Rene and I are both GOA members. The ruling is ambiguous for now. Technically I can buy an SBR and silencer because I am a GOA member in the state of Texas, but I hear a lot of dealers are waiting for clarification from the courts. They way I hear it, the Government has 60 days from the date of the ruling to make their argument. Rene is watching this closely and she knows more then me.

Here ya go... Right here in the land of Arizoniacs! And to a couple of sheriffs no less.

Scottsdale Gun Club celebrated crumbling NFA requirements by selling suppressors to Sheriffs Jerry Sheridan and Mark Lamb for $17.76 each.

Just talked with my LGS yesterday- He said yes, 4473 only. They will only accept from the Silencer Shop, as they were one of the plaintiffs, but I'll take it. Be advised- ATF has not given up, they have 60 days to come back

I saw on the news that our new, improved ATF has stated publicly, "The ATF respects the citizens' Right to keep and bear arms, and have no plans to challenge this ruling."

The problem here is that these are policies put in place by bureaucracies. Nothing is codified. The next swinging dick liberal democrat can push the pendulum the other way.

If Sleepy joe can defy the scotus with regards to student loans, doesn't that give us automatic priviledge to disregard gun control laws? I'm not sure on this, but think one of the founders said it is not only our right, but our duty to disobey unjust laws.

Problem with that is if you find yourself in court- Their lawyers use your money, and you need a lawyer who uses your money. For so long in the past they left these things as ambiguous, using fear to do the job for them

FU Newsom. I can now own a suppressor in CA. I am a GOA member.

Other Major Federal NFA Wins for GOA
Separately from the state-level magazine cases, GOA won a separate historic victory in federal court on August 5, 2026. A federal judge ruled that key parts of the National Firearms Act (NFA)—specifically registration requirements for suppressors and short-barreled rifles—became unconstitutional after Congress zeroed out the associated making and transfer taxes. GOA has already begun facilitating NFA-free suppressor transfers under this ruling.

Even though there's no money involved, the fact that the gov will know who has one is not a win in my book. They got no reason to know what I have in my castle/home. Private means private.

If anyone thinks that info will not be used for future reference, you're an idiot!

Has anyone ever seen video of guns being made in India, each one is one off made by hand with files, hand fitted. Is anything hand made going to fall under the same restictions? We need to look past the immediate conclusions and think a litlle bit about "what if". Don't trust the gov!

Simple fix, don't buy anything where you have to fill out a 4473.

Looked up the suppressors out there, the one I wanted was out of stock. Put my email on the list and three days ago I got an email that they were back in stock. Bought it, and my LGS is a registered dealer with them so it's being sent there, and I will pick it up when it comes in- fill out a 4473 and walk out the door

Because The Silencer Shop's website has not been fully updated, my purchase brought me to a "Processing page", which after a moment went To: "No NFA Items In shipment, you are good to go"
