Same here, been cleaning out the work bench and tool shed. If I can't remember what I bought it for or when I last used it, or if ever I used it. then it has to go. I thought I got rid of a ton of stuff before I left Houston but if I didn't know better I would think it followed me here to Ten Oaks.

As I'm trying to clean up, I keep coming across all the stuff I got to do the various jobs around here....which means I have to start getting them done👍 4Comment

I have a whole shipping container full of that kind of stuff. When I need a widget to complete a project, I buy several "backups" just in case one breaks or I decide to add more... whatever. Now I have a 20' shipping container with nice shelves and all neatly organized, filled with crap I'll probably never use. But I know for a fact, if I give away (or throw away) any of it, I will absolutely need it again within a couple weeks.👍 4 -
Yup, same here. Have duplicates of stuff that breaks where everything comes to a halt until you get a replacement. Have started to organize it and get it on shelves in labeled crates. The stuff for the projects I'm trying to keep together and label the boxes so I don't have to hunt through various spots for it.😀 2

After giving away 4 microwaves to poor folk around here, I bought a 5th one the other day for the work bench that needs the drill press moved somewhere first👍 3Comment

Get as many old broken microwaves as you can!
Be careful when you take them apart to discharge the big capacitor in them first! (Those things can literally kill you). But the coils inside are the real value. Depending on the size of the microwave, those babies can jump up voltage to over 40,000 volts from just 12V input!Last edited by Inor; 03-29-2026, 04:37 PM.👍 2Comment
