    That don't work real well on my 26' straps. Depending how tall my load is, sometimes I have 10-16' leftover to manage. I leave about 8-12" for tightening room, but I take the loose end and layer it between the load and the strap that will get the tension. Now the excess strap underneath stays where it should once you bind the load, and it does double duty as an edge protector, since the end touching the load is not under tension. Been doing it that way for 25 years.

      also slips better, to make getting the straps tight less daunting. Been doing it that way as long or longer. (I am on the fossil side of things)

      Agreed. Also got to take the J hooks and go over/under the rub rails. That way if it loosens up (Think round bales), it does not unhook from the rail.
